Join Rotaract in Hong Kong

A small club with room in it

We are young adults who volunteer together in Hong Kong: a small club with a new board, which is the best time to join one. Tell us who you are below. It takes about a minute.

Ten people in white T-shirts with navy scarves stand in two rows, each raising three fingers of one hand; several are laughing.

Who can join

Eight people stand in a row under gold balloons that spell RAC, several holding small glowing globes.

  • You are 18 or over.
  • You live, work or study in Hong Kong, and want to volunteer here.
  • You do not need to know a Rotarian, or anyone in the club.
  • You do not need to be a student. We belong to no university or college.

What to expect

Service days

The heart of it. A few hours with the club, doing something useful for somebody else.

Two people in work gloves crouch on a hillside planting a sapling; one wears a white hooded top with the hood up, and the other’s long hair hides the face.

A club meeting each month

Online or in person, in English. It is where the club decides what it does next.

A say in what we do

The club is rebuilding, so its plans are being made now. Join now and you help to make them.

The four strands

Rotaract is about service, professional development, leadership and friendship. In practice: you help, you learn, you are asked to run something, and you meet people.

Your spoke

  • Elders You would be good company. This club has spent time with older people since 1993: at Chater Garden, over yum cha, and on visits.
  • Children You are at ease with children. The club’s Christmas parties ran for years, and the Ocean Park days in November 2026 are next.
  • Students and careers You remember not knowing what came next. This club was giving career talks in 1991, and once took 60 students through how to ace an interview.
  • Animals You do not mind the mud. In 2021 and 2022 this club worked at a stray-dog shelter, and renovated it.
  • Neighbours in need You notice who is being missed. This club has visited families in Tung Chung, walked Causeway Bay at night to meet people who are homeless, and recovered surplus food.
  • Friends abroad Hong Kong is not quite big enough for you. This club has hosted a sister club from Japan, served in Chiang Mai, and taken part in an Asia Pacific conference at home.

Send us your details

Your name and your email are all we need. The rest helps us to reply usefully.

Only if you would rather we messaged you than emailed.

Every field is needed unless it says optional.

This form needs scripts switched on in your browser. Without them nothing is sent.

  • About a minute, start to finish.

What happens next

  1. One of the board reads what you sent.
  2. We write back by email, with the next club meeting and the next service day.
  3. You come along, see whether it suits you, and decide.

Later on

Where it can lead

Nobody has to go further than Rotaract. Some do. Several Rotaractors from this club later joined our sponsor, the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East, and two of them went on to serve as its President.

Questions

Write to us
How much does it cost to join?

This year’s arrangement is still being settled by the board, and we would rather not print a figure that may change. Ask us and we will tell you exactly where it stands. Sending the form costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Do I need to know a Rotarian, or be invited?

No. Fill in the form and we will write back.

Do I have to be a student?

No. This is a community-based club, not a university one. If you are 18 or over and you live, work or study in Hong Kong, you can join.

How much time does it take?

There is a club meeting each month, online or in person, and there are service days, which you sign up for one at a time. Start with one service day and see.

What language do you meet in?

English. The club became the district’s English-speaking Rotaract club in August 2011. This website is also in Traditional and Simplified Chinese.

What happens after I send the form?

One of the board reads it and writes back by email. Your details go to the club’s board and to nobody else. The privacy page says exactly how they are kept.

I was a member years ago. Can I come back?

Please do. Use the form, and tell us when you were a member. We would be glad to hear from you.
